Routine eye exams do more than update your prescription. They also evaluate your overall eye health, helping detect changes that may affect your vision before symptoms develop.

We accept VSP, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, and most major medical insurance plans. Our team can help you understand your benefits before your visit.

Serving Longmont Since 2003

Building lasting relationships has always been at the heart of Focus Vision. Since Dr. Kevin Cottrell began caring for patients in Longmont in 2003, our practice has grown through generations of families who value thorough care, honest guidance, and a team that takes time to explain every recommendation.

Whether you're scheduling your child's first eye exam, managing an eye condition, or updating your prescription, you'll receive care focused on your long-term eye health.

A Full-Service Optical with an On-Site Laboratory

Focus Vision operates a full-service optical with an on-site laboratory that performs lens edging, manufacturing, and finishing in-house. Most eyewear orders are completed without sending work to an outside lab, which means faster turnaround and quality control at every step, from lens selection to final fitting. The optical also handles frame adjustments, eyeglass repairs, and lens replacements.

Advanced Medical Eye Care in Longmont

Our optometrists use Optomap® ultra-widefield retinal imaging, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), and visual field testing to diagnose and monitor conditions including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and hypertensive eye disease. Early detection matters; many serious eye conditions develop without noticeable symptoms until damage has occurred.

If you have been diagnosed with a chronic health condition that affects your eyes, or if a physician has recommended an eye evaluation, Focus Vision provides the medical eye care and long-term monitoring your vision requires.

Myopia Management

Dr. Alexa Gutierrez is certified in the Brilliant Futures™ MiSight® Program—one of the few FDA-approved treatments designed to slow the progression of childhood myopia. If your child's prescription is worsening, ask us about a myopia management consultation.

Dry Eye Care

Colorado's high altitude and low humidity make chronic dry eye one of the most common concerns we treat in Longmont. We evaluate the tear film and ocular surface and provide conservative, evidence-based treatment tailored to your symptoms and lifestyle.

Specialty Contact Lenses

Standard contact lenses do not work for every patient. We fit gas-permeable (GP/RGP) lenses and provide specialty fittings for patients with keratoconus, irregular corneas, and other conditions that make routine lenses uncomfortable or ineffective.

Diagnosing and Managing Eye Disease—Every Day

Managing eye disease means tracking changes. Because patients see the same doctors at every visit, Focus Vision builds a complete, documented picture of your eye health, so minor changes don't go unnoticed.

Glaucoma monitoring, diabetic eye exams, macular health assessments, and retinal evaluations are routine appointments here, not specialist referrals.

Meet Dr. Cottrell & Dr. Gutierrez

Dr. Kevin Cottrell has been seeing patients in Longmont since 2003. He built this practice around the idea that good eye care starts with knowing your patient, not just their prescription. Dr. Alexa Gutierrez joined the practice in 2022 and brings a particular passion for children's vision and myopia management. Between them, Focus Vision cares for patients of all ages. We see kids for their first eye exam. We also help adults with ongoing medical eye care for chronic conditions.

Contact Lenses for Every Patient

Focus Vision fits patients for the full range of contact lenses, from daily disposables and monthly soft lenses to multifocal and toric lenses for astigmatism.
